A personal appeal: Let's fight together
Do you live in a state that's NOT a swing state? Here's a chance to make a difference
As a departure from my usual topic of movies, I ask your indulgence today to read a personal appeal.
Here's what I'm up to these days: I am having the time of my life volunteering for the Kamala Harris campaign in Reno, Nevada, where Anna and I have been living since the first of the year.

You might have heard me talk about the first time I did political volunteering. In 2018, I identified a congressional district in Texas and went there on my own dime to knock doors and phone-bank for the 18 days before the election. That work thrilled me. I went from being a passive news consumer, stressed out and feeling like nothing I said or did mattered, to working for something important. I wasn't filled with dread anymore. And that mood shift happened before the results came in and we found we had succeeded in flipping a district that had been Republican for 50 years.

As you know, Nevada is one of seven swing states. But despite the good vibes from the DNC and this week's debate, every single swing state is too close. Each poll is within the margin of error. and they're probably going to stay that way through Election Day.
In 2020, Biden won Nevada by 2.3% -- in a small state like this, that was only about 32,000 votes. Here, you can make a difference.
Help me make sure that Nevada, a crucial swing state, stays blue.
You don't even have to come to Nevada (though I know some people who are coming to canvas, and it's lovely here in the fall), nor do you have to tell me whether or not you can help in addition to the good work I know you already do.
But remember how you felt the day after election day in 2016?
You don't want to feel like that again. You want to do anything you can to make sure he doesn't get back in, don't you?
